The newly inaugurated Basketball court of Sainik School Kalikiri witnessed great joy and encouragement during its first ever Basketball Championship on 04 Feb. The final of the maiden Inter House Basketball Championship was graced by the Chief Guest, Offg Principal Wg Cdr VS Dangwal. The four house teams Godavari, Krishna, Penna and Tungabhadra competed in the tournament with great passion for the reputation of their respective houses. Godavari and Tungabhadra showed their mettle to saunter their way into the finals. The final was tipped off at 4.30 pm with the two finalists Godavari and Tungabhadra to fight for the glory of their houses. Godavari House knew they had a task ahead as Tungabhadra House was undefeated on their way to the final winning with clear margins. Godavari wielded a clinical dominance finishing the first quarter at 4-0 to their advantage. The second quarter began with a strong start for Godavari taking the lead further but Tungabhadra stayed close with consecutive baskets denying the dominance of Godavari opening up gaps in their defence. At the end of the second quarter the score was 10 – 08 with two points lead for Godavari. Tungabhadra equalled the score in the third quarter and took a two points lead just before Godavari squaring the score and ending with a 16 – 12 lead. The final quarter of the match saw both teams battling hard, but with an exquisite display of skill and agility from Godavari led the team to a well-deserved win to claim the trophy of maiden Inter House Basketball Championship. In the overall results Penna House secured fourth position, Krishna third, Tungabhadra second and the champion Godavari first.

The Chief Guest Offg Principal Wg Cdr VS Dangwal was very much impressed with the skills displayed by the cadets. He congratulated the participants and winners. Addressing the gathering after giving away the medals and merit certificates to the teams, the Chief Guest said that apart from the beauty of the game, the dynamics in the game of Basketball very much correspond to what takes place in life. He said that the game offers the cadets a myriad range of life skills to learn apart from instilling among them sportsmanship and shaping out into a perfect blend of personality.
